The Homewood City Schools Foundation raises funds through generous donors and community events to support all five schools in the Homewood system.

HCSF awards grants to fund innovative classroom projects, additional teaching resources, professional development opportunities, and more.
“These bikes have been very beneficial to our students with special needs.” - Ms Hart, Special Ed Teacher
The AmTryke, funded by HCSF grants, has so many benefits. These bikes build strength and coordination, and provide sensory aid. Also, the children get a break from the classroom and have a chance to interact with others students and teachers as they ride around the school.
An amazing HCSF Grant application for the Hovercraft Project was approved in Fall 2024, thanks to our community’s generous giving. It is a fully immersive STEM experience where 5th grade students build, test, and ride hovercrafts. This year the 5th graders will collaborate with Physics students at HHS for the Hovercraft experience.
“I was the proud recipient of one of the grants that has changed the lives of several students and also raised a lot of money for our special ed department! Truly blessed! Thank you Homewood City Schools Foundation!” - Ms Bridgewater - HHS, Special Education
Thanks to one of our Fall 2025 Grants, our HHS students have been hard at work designing and crafting with Personalized Patriot and Patriot Printables, our new school-based business! From custom decals to personalized labels, the possibilities are endless!
We currently have 60 National Board-certified teachers and another 22 in process. Homewood City Schools continues to be named a National Board Accomplished District each school year based on its percentage of National Board Certified Teachers. HCS is one of only four school districts in Alabama to earn this recognition.

Each year at the Foundation’s spring Homewood Grown event, the Foundation recognizes one teacher from each of the five Homewood schools who has made a significant mark on the lives of students with Teacher Impact Awards. Nominations come from parents, fellow teachers, administrators and even students who have been impacted by a teacher.
